Can I get car finance if I’m on benefits?

If you’re looking for car finance on benefits you’re not alone; as of February 2021, 9.5 million UK adults of working age are claiming benefits of some kind. Life is unpredictable and there are many reasons why you might need support from benefits, whether you’re experiencing a period of unemployment, have a disability, or have taken on caring or childcare responsibilities.

Here at CarFinance 247 we don’t believe being on benefits should prevent you from being able to find and finance a car. We understand that having access to your own transport can be essential for attending hospital appointments, doing the school run, or getting to job interviews

I’m on benefits and have bad credit. Can you help?

Yes, we can! We know that your current financial situation or difficulties making payments in the past might have left you with a bad credit score. And we also know that a mixed credit history doesn’t necessarily mean you can’t afford finance now. We work with a panel of lenders so that we can look to find finance deals for people in a variety of different circumstances.

Guaranteed car finance on benefits

Guaranteed car finance doesn’t exist. Yes, you’ve probably come across ads online that promise the world and companies that guarantee you’ll be accepted for car finance, but this isn’t a promise any reputable company would give. Being approved for car finance depends on a range of factors, not just your credit score. Your personal circumstances, employment status, and the type of vehicle you’re looking to buy can all affect your eligibility.

We work to find you the best deal from our panel of lenders and are able to find finance for people in a variety of different circumstances, including those with bad credit, but lenders still do have criteria that must be met, which is why we can’t claim to offer guaranteed car finance on benefits.

Car finance for unemployed people

Here at CarFinance 247, we don’t believe that being unemployed should stop you securing car finance. You could need a car to look for work or do a job, after all. While it can be harder to find finance when you’re out of work, the good news is that we do work with lenders that can help unemployed people get a loan.

Keep in mind that every lender will need to know that you’ll be able to afford to keep up with your repayments, so having a good credit score could help. You may also find it useful to have a guarantor.

Don’t worry; your dedicated account manager will be on hand to help guide you through the process, help with any paperwork, and liaise with the lender on your behalf to secure an approval.

Disability Living Allowance and car finance

If you live with a disability or care for a disabled person having access to a vehicle can be essential. That’s why we work with lenders who can help people claiming disability living allowance (DLA), carers allowance, and personal independent payment (PIP) find car finance.

Why come to us for car finance on benefits

For us, car finance is all about helping people improve their everyday lives.

Whether you need a car for hospital appointments, job interviews, or the weekly shop, we’ll look to find you the best car finance deal from our panel of lenders.

Plus, you’ll have a dedicated account manager on hand to help you through the process and speak to the dealership on your behalf.

What now? How to apply for car finance on benefits

It all starts with a quote. If you’re approved in principle, we’ll give you a call to talk through your options. Your account manager can answer any questions you have and grant you access to our car search – a treasure trove of over 100,000 used cars ready and waiting to find a home. Found a car somewhere else? We can still help – just let your account manager know.
